Summary

This article is behind a paywall. It has been included in the database and summarized below solely based on the content of the abstract.

Using a systematic search of studies examining plant-based diets and prostate cancer, the authors included 32 publications for their qualitative review. Five studies used an intervention, specifically lifestyle modifications that included a plant-based diet, and generally found improved short-term outcomes related to cancer indicators and general health/nutrition. 11 studies were observational and generally showed a lower risk (or no change in risk) between plant-based diets and prostate cancer. The authors identify the need for research examining long-term outcomes specific to prostate cancer.
