Summary
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Government of Canada, Animal Industry Division, Market Information Section) compiles data on global milk consumption from Statistics Canada and the International Dairy Federation.
Note that the products included in the calculations differ between countries. Specifically, the data for Kazakhstan includes cream, Estonia includes milk drinks and fermented products, and Canada includes chocolate milk and eggnog.
Using the fluid milk data, the Animal Data Project (ADP) portrays the per capita consumption trends (in liters) for a range of countries from 2012 to 2021. We employ two visualization techniques. First, a line graph presents the trend analysis for each country or region. Second, a bar graph displays the ranking of countries in terms of per capita consumption and illustrates the changes in consumption trends over time. The countries are also categorized into different regions, namely: Africa, Asia, Central America & West Indies, European Union, Middle East, North America, Oceania, Other Europe, and South America. These regions are available as filters in both visualizations.
