Summary

This policy, adopted by the Chicago Park District, outlines how the district plans to ensure the health of those that use the park. Particularly, the district puts forth the goal of making its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) comply with the city’s Good Food Purchasing Policy (GFPP) procurement guidelines. These guidelines feature requirements for procurement that are guided by five values, including Environmental Sustainability and Animal Welfare. As such, procurement in compliance with these standards requires the purchasing of less red meat and less meat overall; furthermore, animal products that are purchased must be purchased from producers that meet certain animal welfare standards, such as increased space for animals and cleanliness standards.
