Summary

This article is behind a paywall. It has been summarized below based on the content of the abstract.

This study of male golden-cheeked warblers, a type of wood warbler whose survival is currently threatened by habitat loss, fragmentation, and urbanization, used point-count surveys in the spring months of 2011–2014 across Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. The results support the association between forest cover and local canopy cover and point occupancy. Densities were higher with increasing juniper and mixed forests. According to the authors, the loss of forest due to urbanization and fragmentation threatens the number of sexually mature males in the area.
